These project profiles highlight our work with immigrants, a diverse group of people who often face language, racial, and economic barriers. The awareness, skills, and strategies we used in these projects are transferable to other communities made vulnerable by injustice.

CAMPAIGN FOR LEGAL SERVICES

Andrea led a coalition that won $2.5 million in public funds for legal services. During the multi-year campaign, Andrea met with community leaders, policy makers, and the press. She centered community voices in strategy sessions and provided resources that uplifted their leadership.
Andrea later worked with the county to develop the RFP, and coordinated grantees to share trends and create a single-stream referral system.

ACCESS TO SERVICES
PLANNING | FUNDING | EVALUATION
Andrea and Paola co-led a city-wide hotline that brought nonprofits together to provide daily referrals to services and respond to emergencies like Hurricane Harvey.
Andrea and Paola led countless strategy sessions, identified shared goals, and provided ongoing training and mentorship to operators. They designed a caller database, centralizing information to meet the needs of 8,600 callers.

REFERRAL HOTLINE

Paola led a network of social workers, navigators, and advocates at 32 organizations to navigate service systems through information sharing and advocacy.
Through the coalition’s process of identification and advocacy, Paola helped members gain an ongoing relationship with Harris Health and trained over 600 people.
